VISUAL ARTIST & PHOTOGRAPHER, UA
BIO
Ukraine-born visual artist, photographer, and cultural manager in the Contemporary Art department at Mystetskyi Arsenal, currently based in Kyiv.
Olena’s academic background in Mathematics, with a BA (2016) and an MA (2018) from Kyiv Pedagogical University, has a significant influence on her visual art projects.
This strong foundation infuses her works with a deep exploration of form and structure, despite her absence of formal art education.
Her current photographic practice mainly focuses on projects revolving around the human body and its perception, which she explores through intimate portraiture.
While photography remains her primary medium, she is also drawn to multidisciplinary collaborations with artists from other disciplines, notably those in performance and sound.
More recently, her artistic practice has shifted towards contemporary pieces addressing the ongoing war in Ukraine. Through her art, she explores the impact of war on the human experience and seeks to raise awareness and encourage dialogue around this issue.
As a photographer, Olena is represented by the Botkyrka Municipality collection in Stockholm, Sweden.
